The Earth Map · Astrocartography
Your astrocartography map
Astrocartography, developed by the astrologer Jim Lewis in the 1970s, draws your birth chart across the globe. For each planet it marks the lines where it was rising, setting, overhead or underfoot at the moment you were born.
In the Earth Map, the temple lists the planet lines that pass near well-known places, and Carta, the map’s guide, talks through what those places may stir in you.
How it works
Three things to know
Four kinds of line
Rising (ASC), setting (DSC), overhead (MC) and underfoot (IC), for every planet.
Near you
The temple measures how close each line runs to 35 well-known cities.
Exact time matters
Lines move about 15 degrees of longitude for every hour of birth time.
In the Earth Map
Get an Earth reading from Carta and ask about any city you are drawn to or thinking of visiting.
From Daniela's sky
Daniela has Saturn overhead through New York, where she lives, and her Sun overhead through Ibiza, Paris and London. Jupiter runs overhead through Antigua.
Questions
Astrocartography, asked
Do I need my exact birth time?
Yes. Without a birth time the temple does not draw an Earth Map, because the lines would be too uncertain.
What does a planet line mean?
It marks a place where that planet’s themes are said to be louder for you. It is a lens for reflection and travel, never a rule about where to live.
How accurate is the map?
Planet positions come from a tested astronomy library, and distances are measured to each city. The interpretation is reflection, not prediction.
For reflection and entertainment. Not a prediction, and not medical, psychological, financial or legal advice.
